Small Business Spotlight - Haley // Cakes to Dye For

This interview was conducted as a part of YourLocalBizPro’s Small Business Spotlight - Week 3. Haley Dye, the owner of Cakes to Dye For, was gracious enough to participate and offer 10% off all bakery case purchases from 8/30/20 - 9/5/20.

What inspired you to open Cakes to Dye For?

“I’ve run Cakes to Dye For from my home for a while, and over time it snowballed to what it is today. We have had tons of awesome customers spreading the word about us, with more events, weddings and parties. Eventually we just realized that we could barely maintain our orders and really couldn’t grow with the space we were in at the time. That led us to opening our storefront.”

Is there anyone from your childhood who encourages your entrepreneurial spirit?

“My grandmother really sparked my interest in cakes at a super young age. She made all of my (along with my siblings’ and cousins’) birthday cakes growing up. My aunt also always had something fun for me to help her make when I visited her as a kid. Brownies, cookies and cupcakes were our specialty!”

Is there anyone in your adult life who encourages your entrepreneurial spirit?

“My husband and parents were really the push that I needed to open our store front! My husband and dad ended up doing the majority of the renovations.. My entire family has to get credit for always encouraging, supporting, and cheering me on.”

Tell us your business mission and why it’s important to you personally.

“My mission is to continue to grow and serve our community. We have had such strong support during the transition from baking out of my home to baking out of our storefront. It’s super special to see all of the people I’ve done orders for while I was at home now supporting me out of the storefront with new orders. I'm so thankful and I truly appreciate everyone who’s ever ordered from us. It is because of THIS community that we are who we are and It's amazing to see the love they have for us!”
